sORTORtelligence · Android app for the instrument count

You're Anna, the scrub nurse in Theatre 3. The 08:30 case is an ORIF of the distal radius, and it needs two instrument trays. Before the surgeon starts, you scan each tray and account for every instrument on its count sheet.

sORT reads the tray label and the code on each instrument, with the phone camera or an RFID reader. The instruments it couldn't read come back as Missing or To check, and you resolve them before you can confirm the tray. After the procedure, you and the circulating nurse sign off the closing count together.

Try this

  1. Open the 08:30 case in Theatre 3 and scan the small fragment set with the camera.
  2. Press Confirm tray before you've resolved anything, and see which instruments are still open.
  3. Resolve the flagged instruments from their rows. Rescan 21-811, pick the right torque limiter, and check 21-905 by eye.
  4. Mark 21-813 as missing and confirm the tray. You'll have to record an action and a second person's check.
  5. Press Select, tick two instruments, and send a problem report with a drawing on the photo.
  6. Confirm the set-up count, switch the case to Closing, and scan the small fragment set again.
